13th – 17th November 2023, Instituto de Matemática Pura y Aplicada, Universitat Politècnica de València
In the framework of the project CIAICO/2023/052 an International workshop on advances on acoustic Metamaterials was organized at the Instituto Universitario de Matemática Pura y Aplicada (IUMPA) from 13th to 17th of November 2023. The participation was under invitation.
Metamaterials have recently revolutionized the field of wave propagation and control particularly in acoustics and mechanics, showing extraordinary functionalities that give rise to great advances in materials design. Metamaterials are discrete systems made from a discrete (usually periodic) spatial distribution of resonant blocks.
In this workshop, working meetings were organized along the week at the IUMPA with a common discussion every day from 18:00 to 20:00. Several concepts among the field of metamaterials, periodic structures, random materials and disorder with correlation, for the design of structures capable of controlling the wave propagation were tackled. The main goal was to find collaborative research lines in order to create strong links between participants coming from different institutions participating in the workshop.
